Victron MultiPlus-II 12/4k/160-32 230V Inverter/Charger

The Victron MultiPlus-II 12/4k/160-32 230V is a multifunctional inverter/charger with all the features of the MultiPlus, plus an external current sensor option that extends the PowerControl and PowerAssist functions to 100A. It's the 12V model in Victron's new MultiPlus-II range, with more power per kg and improved high-temperature performance. It suits professional marine, yachting, vehicle and land-based off-grid systems, and it has built-in anti-islanding.

On a boat with a 12V house bank it delivers 3.4kW of continuous 230V power at 25°C, 6kW peak power for 2 seconds, and a 160A battery charger to get the bank back up quickly while you're on shore power or running the generator.

PowerControl and PowerAssist: set a maximum shore power or generator current and the MultiPlus-II takes account of other AC loads, using whatever is spare for battery charging so the supply isn't overloaded (PowerControl). When peak demand exceeds what the shore or generator supply can give, PowerAssist tops it up with power from the battery. When the load drops, the spare power goes back into recharging the battery.

Two AC outputs: the main output has no-break functionality. If shore or generator power is disconnected, the MultiPlus-II takes over the supply to the connected loads in less than 20 milliseconds, so computers and other electronics keep running without disruption. The second output is live only when AC is available on the input, which suits loads that shouldn't drain the battery, such as a water heater or air conditioner. Those loads are still taken into account by PowerControl and PowerAssist.

Solar ready: the MultiPlus-II works in off-grid and grid-connected PV systems, and it's compatible with both solar charge controllers and grid-tie inverters.

Parallel and three-phase operation: up to 6 units can run in parallel for more power. Three units of the same model can be configured for three-phase output, and up to 6 sets of three can be connected in parallel.

Monitoring and control: settings can be changed in minutes with VEConfigure (computer and MK3-USB interface needed). Monitoring and control options include the Ekrano GX, Cerbo GX, a laptop or computer, Bluetooth (with the optional VE.Bus Smart dongle), a battery monitor and the Digital Multi Control Panel. Add a Cerbo GX or other GX device to connect to the internet, and you can view the system and change settings remotely through the free VRM portal and VRM app.
