When peak demand exceeds what the shore or generator supply can give, PowerAssist tops it up with power from the battery. If shore or generator power is disconnected, the MultiPlus-II takes over the supply to the connected loads in less than 20 milliseconds, so computers and other electronics keep running without disruption. The second output is live only when AC is available on the input, which suits loads that shouldn't drain the battery, such as a water heater or air conditioner.
